Life, reading, music, dancing, fashion, movies, and being me!

Pierced, book 1 of the Lucian & Lia trilogy, will be Sydney Landon’s newest release. It’s a New Adult erotic romance with Lucian as the alpha, super successful, controlling male, and Lia, the young, independent woman who will be his match.

It had more of a feel of Fifty Shades of Grey and Crossfire than Sydney’s Danvers contemporary romance series. Lucian has a damaged past with Cassie, a childhood friend, and his best friend, Aidan. There are hints to what might have happened that was still affecting Luc with nightmares, and I found myself intrigued to find out more. He also has a secret addiction that, if discovered, could cause legal and other problems for him.

Lia is an escort, and Luc ‘hires’ her for a date. She is trying to work her way through college and is a survivor of an abusive past. She has a fun roommate, Rose, who says whatever is on her mind, which I found amusing. Lia is bold enough to defy Luc and put him in his place when needed. She is hired by him in a way that I hope she moves on from in the next book. She has an independent attitude that I’d like to see more of. Her mother requests her help, and this leads to a major twist in the storyline.

I was a bit apprehensive about reading yet another NA series, but Sydney has created enough suspense, sexy scenes, and storylines with surprising twists to keep me wanting more. It ends with a cliffhanger that is shocking. I think this is a series that will only get better. It will be released in July 2014.

NOTE: I received an ARC (advance reader copy) from the author. This is my honest review.

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars  Aviary Photo_130483242079135333

  1. Hmm I’ll have to keep an eye out for when it’s fully published. How was the writing compared to 50? I had a rough go with that one.

With FSOG, I wasn’t that fond of Christian or Anastasia. To me, he was too controlling and she needed to eat. It was a 3 out of 5-star rating for me. I enjoyed Sydney Landon’s writing style, and this book reminded me a bit more of Crossfire than FSOG. There were some expected elements, but there were some twists because of Lia’s abusive past. She has insecurities about her body, and Lucian has a past with two friends that went wrong. Book 1 hints of an even better book 2 because of the cliffhanger. So, I’m expecting even better with book 2. You might want to wait until the trilogy is complete.
