Open Your Eyes
Open Your Eyes:
Shattered and disillusioned after separating from her domineering husband, all Natalie wants, is a peaceful Christmas vacation in New York City, with her 21 year old daughter, Olivia. Uncomplicated. No pressure. Fun.
What she didn’t expect, was meeting a dangerously handsome stranger in an art gallery. He is charming, sexy as hell, and does funny things to her insides. Her frozen heart slowly melts as he seduces her, awakening her deepest desires, showing her that the kind of love she craves is very possible. She wants him as much as he wants her.
Battling his demons from the past, famous photographer Nicholas Gallagher has successfully evaded serious relationships, earning him the title of the world’s most eligible bachelor. But from the moment he lays eyes on Natalie, she stirs something in him. Compelled to chase the sadness from her vivid blue eyes, Nick is captivated by the spirited Australian beauty.
Until Natalie gets a call from home – one she can’t ignore. In a fateful moment the game changes and throws her life into chaos. Gabriel, her jealous ex, wants her back. Two powerful men want her. She is forced to make a choice that will tear her apart.
Will Natalie make the right choice? Will she finally find her soul mate, the one person who can look into her eyes and see deep into her soul, everything she is and everything she desires… will she finally open her eyes?
MY 5-STAR REVIEW
Hot, sexy American photographer Nick Gallagher and Australian Natalie, separated from her husband, meet during her visit to NYC with her adult daughter. The attraction is instant and sizzles. I was rooting for this to work despite the geographical challenges. And then her husband makes a 180. The alpha males try to mark their territory. I was upset and hooked. Natalie makes a decision and has to live with it.
Then there are more unexpected turns and an epilogue that blew me away. Great read. Sometimes doing the right thing will pay off in the end. I really liked that the Nick, Natalie, and Gabriel were in their 40s. Also memorable interactions with family members of Nick and Natalie added to this story. Well done, Jani Kay! You had my mind reeling and my emotions all over the place. I’d love to read more from this author!
The Scorpio Stinger MC Series
Book 0.5: Ryder
All Jade ever wants is an intelligent, well-mannered, and highly educated man like her daddy. One who has stellar career prospects as he climbs the corporate ladder to success. A good provider who will give her a stable life and a gorgeous house in the right neighborhood. A charmed life. Everything orderly and well balanced. Her perfect match.
What she doesn’t want is a smartass, cocky, rough-around-the-edges biker. One who has tattoos and piercings, and looks like a sex god. One who is demanding and controlling. The ultimate alpha male who storms into her life and shakes her to the core.
Jade never saw it coming. Ryder is the one man she can’t resist. He shows her what she really needs. Him.
All Ryder wants is inner peace. Freedom from the hatred churning in his gut. Since his mother deserted him, his life has turned to sh*t. He’s killed a man, lost his brother and fought for his survival. All before turning twelve. Saved by Razor and Cobra, sons of the Scorpions, he owes his life and allegiance to them. The Scorpion MC is his only family. One he will serve and protect till his dying breath.
What he doesn’t need in his life is a smart mouthed woman who thinks she’s better than him. One who pushes every one of his buttons. One who challenges him to want to be more than a drifter. One who makes him question everything he’s ever known. Ryder never saw it coming. He can’t get Jade out of his head. She shows him what he really wants. Her. Ryder wants Jade beneath him. Submitting to him and only him.
Can two people, so different in every way, find love? Or will their different worlds collide and tear them apart?
MY 4.5 STAR REVIEW
You’ll either love or hate Ryder. He is crude, foul-mouthed, and completely loyal to those he loves. He survived a painful, traumatic past and saved his brother, Max’s life. The set up of how the MC works, who’s in charge, the recent incident with a rival gang as well as two very adorable children, all add to complexity of Ryder. The explicit words he uses when he talks about women is the reason I gave it 4.5 stars, instead of 5.
The moment he meets Jade, they ‘butt’ heads. Opposites attract. She is ‘Princess’ to him. I loved how strong Jade is, despite only being 22 (soon to be 23). She is independent with her own career, not relying on her daddy’s wealth, thanks to her mother’s great advice. She stands up to Ryder and won’t let him bully her. And then there was that sizzling hot, sexy scene on his motorcycle!!
Then there is his brother, Max, whom he saved from his own father! They are opposites: Maxwell has become a super successful businessman and philanthropist. If you enjoyed the small introduction to Max in this prequel and want more of Maxwell and Rebecca’s story, you may want to read Lost in France. (Terrific start to the Firebird series!)
Jade’s brother will tangle with Ryder in some way in the series, I’m sure. Her brother, Harrison, was mentioned, but was not in the novella. I bet he’s hot, too. At the end, I was left intrigued and wanting more. I’m not a big fan of MC (motorcycle club) books, a bit too violence and explicit for me, but this one is one I want to read more of.
Book One: Two Worlds Colliding
All any woman ever wants, is to know that she is worth fighting for.
All a man ever wants, is to know he can take care of his woman. Protect her, provide for her, look after her needs and desires.
Is the love between Ryder and his Princess strong enough to overcome the odds? When two people are so obviously meant for each other, can the world decide otherwise and rip them apart?
In a society that judges so easily, Ryder and Jade don’t stand a chance. Can the unthinkable happen?
Full length STANDALONE novel continuing Jade & Ryder’s story in the Scorpions MC.
MY 4.5 STAR REVIEW
Badass bikers in MCs are not my faves. I usually avoid MC series because they are often very violent. Since I enjoyed Open Your Eyes and Lost In France (Firebird series) by Jani Kay, I was willing to read this one. I love that Rebecca and Max from Lost In France were included as Max is Ryder’s brother and Rebecca is Jade’s cousin.
Ryder curses a lot and is quite crude, but his huge heart is hooked on Jade. She is the daughter of rich parents and her brother, Harrison, is a cop and has his own reasons for hating MCs and wanting to arrest and shut all of them down. Ryder was rescued by Cobra and the Scorpio Stinger MCs, so his loyalty to the MC is warranted. This sets up the collision of their worlds.
Ryder got my heart because he is so protective and such a hot lover. Jade is her feisty, independent self and has learned to view Ryder as an equal. Harrison bans Jade from seeing Ryder, and Cobra has banned Jade and her cousin Lexi from the MC. The tension is at a high, and I expect that an all out war between the cops and MC is bound to happen. The rest of the series is going to be exciting.
I enjoyed this erotic romance. As I read more, I got so involved and absorbed in it. By the end, I wanted and needed more of the series. Well done, Jani! Ryder and Jade do get an HEA … for the moment. There are some surprise family revelations that are a game changer for Ryder.
Book Two: Unchain My Heart
The Princess & The Biker – A modern day Romeo & Juliet.
Their two worlds collide, but the Biker and his Princess fight to be together. Their story continues in “Unchain My Heart” as the modern day Romeo and Juliet have fallen in love against the odds—but their families persist in trying to tear them apart.
Especially Harrison, who has an unhealthy hatred for bikers and uses his position as a cop to keep Ryder Knox away from his younger sister. Can Jade ever forgive him for the untold grief he brings to her and her man?
Ryder’s family of bikers is no better. Fearing for the club, Cobra is dead set against Ryder being with Jade. Who will Ryder choose? His Scorpio Stinger MC brothers OR his Princess?
Will Ryder and Jade be able to overcome the many obstacles in their way? Can their love survive the loss they suffer and the choices they must make?
The Beauty & The Beast
Eva has never known a man so lost, so broken, yet so cocky and confident at the same time. Harrison Summers can unravel her with a mere look, set her heart beating with a touch, make her wanton with his words.
Harrison demands her submission.
Will she ever be able to surrender, willingly, to a man? Eva doesn’t know the answer, but she’s prepared to try. After the first taste, she wants more. Never one to take the easiest route, she wants to push to the edge of her limits.
Eva is willing to give her body to Harrison.
But her heart?
He’s too guarded with his own. He’s hard, cold and distant. Set on revenge. A beast. Eva knows heartbreak when she sees it. Harrison Summers will trample her heart to pieces and not give a damn.
Intelligent, graceful and poised. She’s the beauty, he’s the beast.
Fiercely independent, Eva Ryder isn’t used to taking orders from anyone. Harrison believes it will make her submission so much sweeter.
Will she choose to live on the edge? Surrender to him?
Never before has he wanted anything this much. It destroys his plans of living for his career and not getting involved with a woman. Sex once and let go. No ties, no tomorrows. That’s how he operates. Add to that his uncontrollable desire for revenge and he’s one messed up dude.
Harrison hates change. But there’s absolutely nothing he can do to stop it. He’s in too deep already.
Is Eva the beauty who can tame the beast?
The one who can Unchain His Heart?
MY 4.5 STAR REVIEW
Ryder and Jade, Harrison and Eva… sparks fly, ‘war’ is waged, and the erotic scenes sizzle. I was rooting for Jade and Ryder against so many who didn’t want them together. There is lots of drama, sexy banter, and some heartwrenching scenes. I HATED Harrison and his angry, unreasonable rant to Jade and the consequences of it. The MC buries one of its own, and a loss is still not recovered, which leaves me ready for book 3, Cobra and Mia’s story, in this series.
Ryder is more than just a badass biker, but a man who, when tempted to revert to his previous ways, chooses better. And Jade goes through a lot. They’re a couple that just keeps getting their HEA messed up, but they never give up on each other. I still think Harrison owes Jade a HUGE apology, and I haven’t totally forgiven him. He did meet his match in Eva.
Jani Kay did it! I didn’t think I’d ever enjoy reading an MC series. There are enough twists to keep me guessing and to keep me reading until the end.
“Ah, one small woman can take a big, mean biker down, just like that.” She (Jade) snapped her fingers.
“You once said we were a modern day Romeo and Juliet. Guess you were right. Only difference is we refuse to die on one another. We will write our own ending to our story. It will be a f***ing happily ever after – just like Jade wants.” (Ryder)
“Now I’d listened to Harrison’s story with as much compassion as I could muster, but some parts freaked me the f*** out. Did I really want to get tangled up with a man who was so damaged? Was it possible to repair and heal his brokenness? I didn’t know the answer. It seemed impossible to unchain his heart and mind from the incident that held him captive a decade later.(Eva)
MY 5-STAR REVIEW
Jani Kay wastes no time in getting to the good parts as the sexy sizzle between Rebecca and Alain starts when they meet on the plane from Australia to France. As Rebecca leaves Julian and her native land behind for a terrific job as Director of Marketing in Paris, she is ready for adventure and a new beginning. She reacts so strongly and quickly to Alain on the plane that I wonder a bit if he is her rebound guy, at first.
Then Alain sticks around and acts as her own personal Parisian tour guide. (I want one like him!) They are becoming inseparable, until her new boss, sexy, alpha male, American Maxwell Grant decides that he is attracted to Rebecca, too.
I really enjoyed when Rebecca stood up to Maxwell and rebuffed him. She was feisty and confident as she held her own during her presentation. She is determined not to get caught in the web of another married man. I could understand her wariness and her need to be independent. I liked that no matter her attraction to Alain or any other guy, she remained focused on her career goals (she has a PhD).
I enjoyed that Alain’s POV was included. It was interesting to know what he was thinking and his desire to marry for love, despite the threat of being cut-off by his father if he doesn’t marry a Frenchwoman of aristocratic blood. Maxwell’s POV was not included, so I don’t know what his thoughts about his marriage nor what his desire for Rebecca is, just a fling or something more.
Rebecca is caught between her attraction to both Alain and Maxwell. Her relationship with Julian started off unclear in the story, but later more is revealed. Maybe in the second book Julian will play a bigger role. The pros for Alain: single, wealthy, sexy, not alpha, wants to be exclusive with her; cons: needs to marry according to his father’s wishes. The pros for Maxwell: sexy, alpha male, self-made wealth, strong sexual attraction; MAJOR cons: married, her boss for the 8-month contract, and initially was an arrogant, pushy jerk.
This is the first book of the trilogy, and Jani is off to a great start. There are plenty of erotic romance and hot, sexy, steamy scenes. The descriptions of the different sites in Paris definitely whet my appetite to visit there. Unfortunately for Rebecca, she gets offers that she needs to refuse. She wants to have a man to call her own and who puts her first. It seems like Alain will fill her need, until the surprise twist that leads to a cliffhanger for them. I’m looking forward to where the next novel in the series will go… I want more Rebecca, Alain, and Maxwell!
Maxwell sends her to Munich, Germany as part of her work contract.
Will Alain come to his senses and realise he has lost the most precious thing on earth – true love?
Will Maxwell f*cking Grant get closer to Rebecca?
Read why Rebecca wants NO REGRETS!!!
MY 5 STAR REVIEW
Book 2 raises the suspense and sexual sizzle. Alain, Maxwell, and Rebecca are all back… they all end up in Germany with some shocking revelations and accusations to deal with. I was rooting for Maxwell and Rebecca in Lost in France, though Alain was quite a sexy Frenchman. There was just a spark between Max and Becca that just ignites and flares, but there is the issue of Max’s ‘wife’, Natasha. A ‘marriage’ of convenience turns out to be inconvenient.
Then there is the shocking discovery made by Alain in France as he attempts to get out of marrying the woman his father, the duke, demanded that he marry. Whoa! That leads to a turn of events that has unexpectedly bad consequences for Alain. I really felt for him. Jani took the story to a new level with this.
I enjoyed that Rebecca’s sisters, Lily and Chloe, join her in Germany, though Lily is mistaken for Rebecca, and that has a mixed result. I like Chloe’s boldness and her meeting with Alain is a scorcher. Alain arrives in Germany to claim Rebecca, but with so many things that have occurred, he may be too late.
The way this ended has me wanting more! I need the third book now. I will say that I like this one more than Lost in France. I like it when a series/trilogy improves as it continues. I feel for Maxwell, Rebecca, and Alain, and the challenges they are facing.
Besides reading, her favorite ‘thing’ is traveling – she has traveled the world, learning about the ways people live and has come to the realization that no matter where we live, we all ultimately want the same things. Her hobby – Scrapbooking – keeps her up till way after midnight and her usual subjects are her family and her travels.
